Ayushmann Khurrana turns singer for Vicky Donor

Standard

Now making his acting debut in JA Entertainment’s Vicky Donor ,little did former VJ Ayushmann Khurrana know ,that an impromptu song he wrote in college would now mark his musical debut in the contemporary comedy.

VJ turned actor Ayushmann has composed ,penned the lyrics and sung for a song titled “Paani” – A Punjabi love ballad he had written in college years ago ,that has now been included in the film given that it went perfectly with the mood and setting of the movie.

Talking about how things fell into place says Ayushmann “One day I was sitting with Shoojitda discussing which music director to rope in among other things. I happened to be carrying my guitar that day and mentioned the song I had written 8 years ago. He asked me to play it and ended up loving it. So we used it in the film” stating that he couldn’t have asked for a better platform as opposed to having a mediocre release online.

“I had written the song way back in 2003 while I was in college, along with my friend Rochak Kohli who now heads a radio station .It’s a love ballad and since we haven’t really had a Punjabi love ballad in Bollywood for a long time, its going to be interesting” adds Ayushmann.

Housefull 2 pays tribute to iconic on-screen fights of the 70’s

Standard

The infamous on-screen fights shared between veterans Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna in the late 70’s is soon to be recreated on screen in Eros International and Sajid Nadiadwala‘s Housefull 2.

The sequel to one of the biggest hits of the year 2010,will see lead actors Akshay Kumar and John Abraham exchange blows in an intense fight sequence executed by Action director Kawee Sirikhanaerut from Thailand action company -Seng Kawee of Rambo and Lara Croft fame.

And if sources are to be believed the famous Amitabh Bachchan-Vinod Khanna fights on-screen have served as reference points to the critical scenes shared by Akshay and John in the masala-entertainer.

Confirms director Sajid Khan “I have designed all the action sequences and used fight scenes between Amitabh and Vinod Khanna in 1970’s films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish and Khoon Pasina as inspiration”. Adding that “I haven’t used any special effects .Today, even a kid can point out fake stunt sequences. As kids, we’d count the number of punches Amitji and Vinod Khanna would throw so in the film I’ve given John and Akshay an equal number”.

Says producer Sajid Nadiadwala “ It was Sajid Khan’s dream to design such stunt sequences. And since both of us are crazy fans of Manmohan Desai and Prakash mehra, there was no debate when he created those scenes”.

Directed by Sajid Khan , starring an ensemble cast -Akshay Kumar, John Abraham ,Riteish Deshmukh, , Shreyas Talpade , Asin ,Zarine Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez ,Shazahn Padamsee , Rishi Kapoor ,Randhir Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty , Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros International’s Housefull 2 comes to a theatre near you April 5.th,2012.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MAHURAT OF ‘SHOOTOUT AT WADALA”

Standard

BY ARYEMAN RAJ

Kangana Ranaut has definitely come a long way with her fashion style which clashed with her twangy accent. One did notice an improvement in Kangana’s English diction skills. Dressed almost like a show-stopper with an exclusive one-piece, Kangana will be seen in a typical Maharashtrian look and plays the love interest opposite John Abraham. Being the only female entity in this ‘male-to-order’ film, Kangana is sure she will stand out despite having played a Don’s love interest in her previous films.

Sonu Sood has no grouses over being a replacement actor for Vivek Oberoi who walked out of the film. It’s reported that Vivek wanted the director to flesh his role out more so he could stage a comeback at the box-office. Obviously Gupta refused. “When Sanjay narrated the script to me over a period of 3 hours, I was almost transported into the 70’s era. Having been a great fan of Sanjay Gupta’s films, I am sure he will do justice to all the character’s roles. And frankly I am not doing any special research for playing Dawood’s role since I am in safe hands with my director.”

And to end it off, Ekta Kapoor as usual was fashionably late and made an entry after the press conference had begun. Anil Kapoor did a paay laagu producerni-ji for her. Obviously Ekta has the knack of churning gold pots at the box-office with her recent hits. And Anil and the other star-cast definitely know which side of the bread needs to be buttered up. One can’t help but comment on the zillion coloured stone rings that adorn Ekta’s fingers with all the different coloured babaji ka dhaagas. Hope soon, one sees an engagement ring on the Czarina’s fingers too.

John Abraham and Akshay Kumar get back with Desi Boyz

Making his big Bollywood directorial debut Rohit Dhawan ,son of acclaimed director David Dhawan brings back the hit comic jodi of Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and John Abraham after 7 long years in Eros International’s Desi Boyz.
The two actors go back a long way after their partnership in Garam Masala –that went on to become the biggest Blockbuster of 2005.
Rohit Dhawan promises to bring the house down with the coming of age comedy that traces the lives of two young lads who refuse to grow up.

Talking about reuniting the Garam Masala duo says Rohit, “Akshay was on board from day one, when I was still developing the story idea. A two-hero movie is never easy to write and it took me almost two years to put this project together. Once I felt I had justified the presence of both the protagonists, I took the script to John who’s been like a buddy since I worked as an assistant director on dad’s film, Hook Ya Crook (2010). He was convinced immediately. “

Terming Desi Boyz as a “Dramedy” the film starring Akshay Kumar,John Abraham,Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh breaks the norms of Bollywood comedies and contains no slapstick or over the top comedy
“Both Akshay and John are extremely disciplined and professional. They were always on time and focused through the day, a dream team for any first-time director,“ says Rohit talking about his first experience working with the two stars..
