Any Shootouts at the Shootout at Wadala Kick-off Party?

Bollywood film Shootout at Wadala has been in the news right from its mahurat launch. Be it the invitation hand-out fiasco or the more recent incident of John Abraham hurting himself in a fight sequence. Must say Ekta and Sanjay Gupta do have a passion for spice and their recent joint venture will surely continue to catch eye-balls till the time the film is ready for release.

Barely a fortnight since the film started shooting and Balaji Telefilms and White Feather Films kicked off their venture, “Shootout at Wadala” with a party held at Mumbai’s suburban nightspot Escobar.

The party was hosted by Mr Suresh Mehta and Mr Sanjay Gupta, the director of the film.

The party was attended by the cast of Shootout at Wadala namely John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Tushar Kapoor,Sonu Sood and the petite Kangana Ranaut.  Producer and head honcho of Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor was also present at the event.

With such an impressive star-cast and hot, burning subject and the whiz minds of Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupra one can’t just wait for the film to be complete.

Kangana Ranaut has definitely come a long way with her fashion style which clashed with her twangy accent. One did notice an improvement in Kangana’s English diction skills. Dressed almost like a show-stopper with an exclusive one-piece, Kangana will be seen in a typical Maharashtrian look and plays the love interest opposite John Abraham. Being the only female entity in this ‘male-to-order’ film, Kangana is sure she will stand out despite having played a Don’s love interest in her previous films.

Sonu Sood has no grouses over being a replacement actor for Vivek Oberoi who walked out of the film. It’s reported that Vivek wanted the director to flesh his role out more so he could stage a comeback at the box-office. Obviously Gupta refused. “When Sanjay narrated the script to me over a period of 3 hours, I was almost transported into the 70’s era. Having been a great fan of Sanjay Gupta’s films, I am sure he will do justice to all the character’s roles. And frankly I am not doing any special research for playing Dawood’s role since I am in safe hands with my director.”

And to end it off, Ekta Kapoor as usual was fashionably late and made an entry after the press conference had begun. Anil Kapoor did a paay laagu producerni-ji for her. Obviously Ekta has the knack of churning gold pots at the box-office with her recent hits. And Anil and the other star-cast definitely know which side of the bread needs to be buttered up. One can’t help but comment on the zillion coloured stone rings that adorn Ekta’s fingers with all the different coloured babaji ka dhaagas. Hope soon, one sees an engagement ring on the Czarina’s fingers too.

Ekta Kapoor – the Lady with the Midas touch, the lady who changed the face of Indian Television, the multi-talented woman of substance who has enthralled millions of audiences with her saas-bahu dramas, changed the mindsets of the Indian audiences is all set to recreate history. Her passion for story-telling with a zing and her fancy for risk-taking has been proved to success stories earlier.

Ekta’s media friendly approach was worth appreciative as she tackled all the media queries with utmost calm and sensible responses. She came across as someone who knows her recipes for success, is well aware of the technicalities. That’s why she has reached that position of high stakes.

After the stupendous success of Bade Acche Laggte Hain, Sony Entertainment Television and Balaji Telefilms join forces once again to present another block buster show Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada that will certainly set the country buzzing.  The show stars Mona Singh and Pawan Shankar who come together for the first time as a married couple trying to re-discover marital love.

Ekta Kapoor – the czarina of Indian television is all set to redefine the splendor and rule the prime time slot once again with the launch of the much awaited and talked about show – Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada, a show poised to break all records on Indian television!

Further commenting on the launch Ms Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director, Balaji Telefilms Ltd said, “After Bade Acche Laggte Hai ruling the charts, we at Balaji are all geared up for yet another interesting show – Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada which celebrates marriage after 10 years. Through this show we want to show our viewers how the relationship between a husband and wife changes through time but love remains constant. I am extremely delighted to take the relationship with Sony Entertainment Television to another level with the launch of Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada and hope that we are able to create magic together once again”

Not many know that as a kid Ekta Kapoor had always wanted to be a film journalist. She had also done a couple of stories as a cub reporter (with the assistance of a staffer) for gossip magazine Stardust. Much to the chagrin of her dad, he was quite sure that his daughter was capable of more than just unearthing scoops about his Bollywood clan.

Today, the business Czarina that she is, Ekta has a strong nose for spice and knows exactly what sells. Be it her stint with television where she changed the face of the small screen, made her millions, Ekta has also proved that a low-budget-high-on-content film can work wonders at the box-office. “LSD” and “Ragini MMS” are two such low budget films which have been commercially viable hits for her non-commercial film banner.

THE DIRTY PICTURE has already evoked enough curiosity coz of the story line which is allegedly inspired by South sex siren Silk Smitha. How much of Silk is there in this film, one can rest assured that it has the right dose to grab not just the eye-balls but tickle the funny bones of the front benchers.

One such exclusive sneak-peek on the film which is still a close guarded secret hit our hands. Since the storyline borders on the South film industry and the era when double-meaning dialogues were rampant, read on to slurp the flavour of the film.

Naseeruddin Shah’s wife, along with their 6 month old baby, visits the location where Vidya is shooting. Getting into a brief discussion, Vidya asks to hold the baby.

The baby’s hand goes on Vidya’s much evident bosom (through her low cut blouse) where she has a mole (kaala til). To this Vidya retorts, ‘Bilkul apne baap peh gaya hain’.

Quite shocked at the comment coming from the heroine of her husband’s film, the wife does manage to read between the lines on what Vidya is hinting at. She retorts, ‘Tumhare paas toh til hain, lekin woh mere dil main bethaa hain’.

Vidya gives a cynical almost sadistic smile, looks at Naseer’s wife and comments, ‘Woh toh tumhare dil mein bethtaa hoga, lekin mein toh uske til beh beththi hoon’

Impulsively without thinking twice, the wife retorts, ‘tumhe kaise pataa uske paas wahan til hain’.

Vidya doesn’t comment and roll her eyes with an impish glee of knowing where Naseeruddin has a ‘til’.

Knowing Ekta and her penchant for spice, gossip and controversy, one can wait and watch to see how this scene gets past the Censor’s eagle eyes when one can easily decipher what and where the ‘til’ is which is being spoken about in this scene.

The actress’ brother Vadlapatla Naga Vara Prasad had filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Tuesday, to withhold the release of the film.

He claimed that the film was based on tampered facts of her life and portrays his sister in an obscene manner. In response, to pre-empt any further roadblocks to the project, the filmmakers have filed caveat petitions in nearly 20 cities across the country to request that no petition against release of the film should be entertained without their knowledge.

Vara Prasad, who lives in Smitha’s native Kovvali village in West Godavari district, created a sensation a few days ago by slapping legal notices on the Kapoors.

However, the petition was not admitted. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror over the phone Smitha’s brother claimed that Kapoors had filed caveat petitions in about 20 courts across the country. “I received intimation from courts in various cities including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Vijayawada and Eluru (hometown)”, he said. Defending his decision to drag the makers of the film to court, he said, he said, he did so after Balaji refused to respond to him.

“Going by the news reports appearing in newspapers and telecast by the TV channels, the the movie is based on my sister’s life. Her character has been portrayed in the most obscene manner. Such scenes must be removed before its release”, he petitioned the court, accusing the filmmakers of making the movie without the family’s consent or knowledge.

Silk Smitha’s kin sues THE DIRTY PICTURE

With reference to the legal notice received and the ongoing speculation about the film, Balaji wishes to clarify that “The Dirty Picture” is the romantic journey of a fiercely ambitious starlet who dreams of making it big on the silver screen.

It draws inspiration from the strugglers in the 80s whose indomitable spirit made them emerge triumphant and create a unique space for themselves in a male-dominated film industry.

The film is not a formal biopic or biography, as is being speculated. It is a work of fiction, and any characters resemblance to real persons,  living or dead, is coincidental.

“The Dirty Picture”, a spectacular musical entertainer, is in essence, a love story, and a celebration of the never-say-die spirit of every industry newcomer.

Abhay Deol Rock-ing to the Shaadi!

After Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Abhay Deol has tasted commercial success. And how. And in his next film, Rock The Shaadi, he is going the full length.

Ekta Kapoor’s Rock The Shaadi is essentially a fun – jabi film, where Abhay is paired opposite Genelia D’souza. And whats interesting is that the title was suggested by none other than Abhay himself.

Says a source, “Once during a cast and crew meeting, Ekta announced that whoever came up with an interesting title would be awarded. And so the competition amongst the cast and crew began, of course in a casual and funny way. That’s when Abhay suggested Rock the Shaadi since the film is a fun, crazy comedy. The moment everyone heard it, they were convinced that the title “Rock the Shaadi” actually rocked and decided to lock it immediately.”

Official spokesperson of the film confirms that its true., “Shaadi of the Dead was an working title. And Ekta threw open a challenge to all. Abhay who is closest to the project gave a rocking title.”

Chirag Paswan was in an upbeat mood, while leading actress Kangna Ranaut sizzled in a Black Cavalli outfit. Anuj Saxena from Maverick was seen MCing the event!
Shweta Tiwari’s performance of hot item number Katto Gilahari had the crowd whistling and cheering as did Sajid Wajid’s performance. Ekta Kapoor and Bhushan Kumar dropped by to wish the cast.
