The ceremony saw bollywood and corporate’s get felicitated by Lord Raj Loomba & Abhimanyu Ghosh, Editor In Chief, WCRC. Top 50 brands were honoured with The Brand of the Year Emerging No1 accolade.
World Consulting and Research Corporation (WCRC) has, for years now, dedicated immense time and research into studying India’s growth story and honouring those who’ve propelled its growth.India’s rise on the world map is the result of the hard work of these individuals, who’ve worked relentlessly for years.
A special section was devoted in recognizing the brands that are going to further fuel India’s growth story. This announcement was followed by an engaging session on Corporate Social Responsibility, where the business leaders discussed not just its growing importance, but also how they were using their might to make a difference.
This was followed by a one-of-its-kind fashion show, helmed by India’s most eminent names. Designed in association with First Step, Lakshyam and Lord Loomba Foundation, the fashion show was themed on ‘Empowering the Girl Child Today, to Building Women Leaders of Tomorrow’. Underprivileged children walked the ramp, hand-in-hand with India’s top models. The show was cheered on by the likes of Anupam Kher, Sussanne Khan, Farah Khan Ali, Shibani Kashyap, Varun Bhal, Arti Surendranath, Mughda Godse, Rohit Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal & Taapsee Pannu.
What’s it about?
The film takes on the theme of greed and covetousness and turns it into a pleasant satire. A saucy comedy about a commoner’s brush with the “D” gang, this is an original smile-inducing romp into the realm of comedy where errors define the mood, and the characters are not as interesting as the situations that the script tries to create for them.
Story & Screenplay:
Targeted as being a thriller, the film moves at a fast pace and keeps you engrossed with the twists and turns. The comedy angle is underplayed which could have enhanced Zayed Khan’s character. There are many liberties taken by the writer for the story-telling which are not digestible.
Zayed Khan as the nerdy Delhite keeps the performance bridled and likeable. He deserves better. Rannvijay as the Insignificant Other is delightfully droll. ‘Sharaafat…’ as a concept of proper conduct never seemed more like sharaarat, as the con game is played through the streets of Delhi. Tina Desai walks through her role competently.
Except for the ‘Selfie’ number, all other songs are dull.
With so many films releasing this week, this film will suffer the most due to poor marketing and ineffective star cast.

More offline than online connections.
Sonali says, to survive in Mumbai, you don’t need a college degree- just b*lls! She, along with her band of ghetto boys runs a thriving business providing broadband to a sprawling Mumbai neighborhood. Her childhood sweetheart returns from the United States and helps bring her small enterprise into the 21st century. Complications arise when SHINING INC, a huge corporation run by the self made Vaghela (Anupam Kher) wants her out to complete their monopoly of Broadband Internet in the city. Sonali refuses… and it’s war! The film incorporates themes about the growing nexus between corporations and politicians, and the increasing helplessness of the ordinary citizen in the face of greedy corporations. This is a character driven, edgy survival drama of a girl and her rag-tag family of internet cable technicians for whom Sonali Cable is more than a livelihood… it’s their home!
Ali Fazal – He does his usual bit which is no different from his previous film Bobby Jasoos. A talented actor for sure but he has no scenes to exhibit his talent in this female oriented subject.
Rhea Chakraborty – She seems quite a misfit as the bold, brazen Maharashtrian girl who manages an internet connection business. She tries her level best to carry the film on her shoulders but fails since the scenes don’t make her character endearing.
Raghav Juyal – A scene-stealer and standout from the crowd. He is lovable and cute and touches the heart strings in most scenes. Will go places.
Anupam Kher – Has a great get-up with weird and whacky mannerisms. Quite quirky in his dialogues, loved his performance.
Swanand Kirkire – A writer bu profession in an unusual avtar. The script fails to make his character dynamic. Yet Kirkire comes natural in a different role.
SMITA JAYAKAR – Perfectly poised and does absolute justice to her role.
Script & Direction:
Charudutt Acharya dabbles with the story, screenplay and direction. The premise of the plot is interesting, some moments are memorable. Somehow as a director, the film pace goes low profile unlike the thrilling moments which grip the audiences interest. Maybe the intention was to steer clear from the usual dramatics normally resorted to by most Bollywood film directors.
A good job for a clear-cut execution and effective cheat shooting shots to compromise on the budget.
Music: Ankit Tiwari and Mike Mccleary do a good job but somehow the songs have failed to be promoted adequately to become hit numbers.
Sonali Cable will not be able to sustain at the box-office due to average promotion. The main starcast do not have a fan-following and no euphoria has been created at the marketing stage. The film will do average business and may not cover its costs despite having Ramesh Sippy as a co-producer.
Cast: Ali Fazal, Rhea Chakraborty, Raghav Juyal, Anupam Kher, Swanand Kirkire, SMITA JAYAKAR
Director: Charudutt Acharya
Production House: Ramesh Sippy Entertainment
Music: Ankit Tiwari, Mike Mccleary
Cinematography: Sudhir Palsane
Editing: Aarif Shaikh
Story/Writer: Charu Dutt Acharya
Action Direction: Amar Shetty

Bollywood films, theatre and television, celebrated actor Anupam Kher has now turned author with the release of his life-coaching book THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS …YOU!!
Eminent personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Pritish Nandy, Kirron Kher, media personalities Arnab Goswami, Nidhi Razdan, Ashutosh and Publisher, Hay House, Ashok Chopra were present to lend support to the actor. As part of the launch every guest was asked to read a chapter from the book.
Amitabh Bachchan, who read last, highlighted a chapter wherein Anupam faced some flak from a certain section of the media during his support campaign against corruption. This transpired during the Anna Hazare episode recently. Big B was targeted by the media who sought his comments and feedback on the incident.
In his true charismatic style, Big B deviated from getting further embroiled with fresh controversies. While the pushy media kept persisting, Big B avoided the questions and categorically stated, “I have read a chapter from the book. If I have any comments on the anti-corruption campaign, you will get updates on Twitter”.
Hats off to Big B for not capitalizing on this event unlike the younger breed of actors who bask in the glory and try to outshine the purpose of the event launch. Mr Bachchan clearly outlined that his purpose was to be part of the book launch. One couldn’t help but notice his cute, cheeky smile when Kher spoke about him or made a mild goof-up. Bachchan and Kher have always shared a good personal relationship off-screen too. Even wife Kirron shares a close bonding with the Bachchan khaandan. Not to mention their sons Abhishek and Sikander who have taken the family bonding further and been close buddies.
THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS …YOU!! Is definitely a worth-reading book with some valuable insights from a talented actor.

After essaying many roles in films, theatre and television, celebrated actor Anupam Kher has now turned author with the release of his life-coaching book THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS …YOU!!
The book was released at Out of the Blue, Le Sutra Hotel, by Amitabh Bachchan, Pritish Nandy, Kirron Kher, media personalities Arnab Goswami, Nidhi Razdan, Ashutosh and Publisher, Hay House, Ashok Chopra.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kher said, “I believe that there are more lessons to be learnt from failure than success and dealing with failure successfully has been my way of combating the vicissitudes of life. I never realised the power of this philosophy till I staged my one-man autobiographical play Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai in 2005 in which I laughed at my reverses. Ironically, it has become my most successful endeavour and was the genesis of the book.
My mantra has been that by never trying, we are only ensuring failure. I felt that I should share these thoughts with more people, which is why I took up to speaking about them at some of the most prestigious institutes in the US and before corporate audiences. In the process, I realised that I had unknowingly become a life-coach. I then thought of reaching out to a wider audience and along came the book THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS …YOU!! I think it is a book for all seasons, a book for all reasons,” says Kher.
Mr Ashok Chopra, said that Mr Kher has led an extraordinary life and was a completely self-made man, who was greatly respected. “It was evident to us that a book by him with his life lessons, insights and anecdotes would be in perfect sync with the Hay House philosophy of publishing books that focus on transforming the self for the better. We’re extremely pleased with how THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS …YOU!! has turned out and are sure that it’ll be a great source of inspiration to millions of readers round the world. It is being published in various Indian regional languages and also as an ebook by our international offices.”
THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS …YOU!! contains Kher’s views on a wide variety of topics such as the anger syndrome, the phenomenon of change, thought control, dealing with relationships, being detached, conquering stress, getting rid of fears, coming to terms with failure, realizing the power within oneself, the importance of forgiveness, coping with loss and death… and much more.
Using examples from his own life and experiences, Kher subtly motivates and inspires by providing a handy guide to discovering your real self and finding peace of mind and contentment in today’s chaotic times! He feels that the best way to counter the negativity that exists in the world these days, where people are gripped by fear, insecurity, stress, frustration and unhappiness is by acquiring a positive outlook. Citing his own example, he reveals how a humble background need not be an obstacle to attaining the dizzying heights of success, but simultaneously, speaks of the importance of handling such success.
Here’s a book you will find yourself turning to for soothing, insightful guidance and practical advice no matter what situation you’re in. You WILL come to realize that the best thing about you is YOU!
