Giving his audiences a riveting experience, India’s finest young design talent, Dhruv Kapoor presented his avant-garde approach to classics that provided a new edge to everyday clothing. This collection revolved around his approach to deconstruct “Classic” and outgrow the traditional ideas in menswear.
The collection has been positioned as ‘Specialized Ready to Wear’ and is an eclectic mix of science fiction and tradition. Through this collection, Dhruv Kapoor projects individuality and the designs target the metrosexual men of today.
From puffed air-force bombers to micro shorts mixed with traditional trousers, layered jackets and all year trenches formed an integral part of the collection. Color and prints were twisted together to showcase harmony between the old and new. Coated nylons, techno jersey and boiled wool paired with classic cottons, covered most of the fabrics used in the collection with keen attention to detail. The collection also sported traces of the iconic wallpaper print from the youthful 70’s toned down with a dark palette of navy and a pop of yellow.
Sharing his thoughts on the collection, Che Kurrien, Editor, GQ India, said, “Dhruv Kapoor presented his vision of the new age design philosophy that resonates perfectly with the way we at GQ foresee trends. Showcasing a blend of traditional and modern designs, his collection was a perfect balance of creativity and aesthetics.”
Talking about his inspiration for the collection, Dhruv Kapoor said, “This is a new direction for the modern man of today, commencing the order of the ages, focusing on specialized luxury.”
