Many actresses like Kajol, Neetu Kapoor and Raveena Tandon are making comebacks in the tinsel town, not left far behind is proficient actress Aruna Irani. Like the other aforementioned actress, Irani has also returned after a five year long hiatus from Bollywood.
After making her television debut with Yudh with Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood actress Sarika is set to be seen on the small screen once again. The actress has been signed on for an episode of &TV’s Darr Sabko Lagta Hai to be directed by Soumik Sen of Gulaab Gang fame. The makers will be shooting in Madh Island from this weekend.
Sarika will be seen in a role of a possessive-obsessive and strict disciplinarian of a mother who faces a horrifying crisis involving her daughter. Sarika had only done a couple of horror films such as Dahshat in the 1980s and played a Wiccan in Sacred Evil based on the true story of Ipsita Roy Chakraverti. The buzz is that she was prompted to take up this episode because of her close friendship with the producers of the show. Producer Priti Sinha says that “Sarikaji was meant to do a film titled Gauri Ma to be directed by Sandeep Chowta and produced by us. The script of Soumik’s episode for Darr Sabko Lagta Hai strangely reminded me of that film. So I immediately called up Sarikaji and she was onboard. The rest is history.”
Versatile actress Tisca Chopra has what only a few actors can boast of at the box office – two releases on the same day! Two films starring Tisca – Ghayal Once Again and LoveShuda – are releasing on 15thJanuary next year. And interestingly both the films belong to two different genres altogether. While Sunny Deol’s Ghayal Once Again is a hardcore action drama, LoveShuda is a romantic musical. And while the industry is abuzz about the clash, wonder what Tisca has to say about it and which one will she be rooting for more. When contacted, the actress however reveals that it’s hard for her to pick one over another, “Yes, it’s rare for actors to have two releases on the same day, and it’s exciting and interesting. But it’s also like waiting for two results,” she laughs. On a serious note she adds, “As an actor, you give every shot your best no matter what film and what genre. Release dates are anyways not our call, so whether it is one film or two films on the same date, the expectations are the same – that the film does well and your performance is appreciated. And here since both the films are so different from each other, I hope both do really well.”
Sonnalli Seygall, who was last seen in ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ is making the most of the success of the film as the PKP2 fever is still going strong among the youth. The actress recently held a Q & A on her social platform and she was surprised to see the number of fans participating in it. The Former Miss India connected with her fans on one-on-one basis and answered all sorts of questions. The activity also revealed some never known facts about the gorgeous actress. Here are a few!

~Based on a true story the film deciphers India’s unfortunate day and is a part of ‘Cinema of the World’ section of the film festival ~
The International Film Festival of India has become a platform where best of the world cinema is savoured by the national and international audience. Along with the light-hearted films, the film based on real life incidents are leaving the audience awestruck with their grimed subject and realistic picturization. The French filmmaker Nicolas Saada’s gripping re-creation of the 2008 Mumbai attack ‘Taj Mahal’ left the audience with tears in their eyes and a feeling of adoration for cinema in their heart. The special screening of the film was held today at the 46th IFFI organized in memory of those innocents who lost their lives and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives.
The film is a part of ‘Cinema of the World’ section in the film festival ongoing in Goa and is based on the experiences of a teenager trapped in hotel Taj Mahal in Mumbai during the November 26, 2008 terrorist attacks. Actress Stacy Martin has played the role of teenage girl Louise, who has moved to Mumbai with her English mother (Gina McKee) and French father (Louis-Do de Lencquesaing) for his new job. They stay temporarily at the Taj Mahal Hotel. One evening, she realizes that a terrorist attack is underway. Her only connection to the outside world is her cell phone, which allows her to maintain contact with her father. The film revolves around the situation that she has to spend a long night alone in the face of danger and after this night her life will never be the same again.
Talking about the film, the director Nicolas Saada said, “Late 2008, a few days after the Mumbai terrorist attacks, I was having dinner with some friends. Someone told me his niece had been trapped in the hotel during the attack. She managed to escape thanks to her survival instinct, and by keeping communication with her father and mother, who were outside the hotel. I was fascinated by this story and I told myself that one day, I would make a film about it.”
“I set up a long interview with her, so that she could describe in details the night she had spent locked up in the hotel. I also wanted to know about journey to India and so I liked the idea of connecting her story to a bigger story, to give it greater impact. It’s truly a coincidence that the terrorist attacks on Charlie Hebdo and the Hypercacher took place during the editing process of the film”, he added.
Sharing her experience on working in the film, actress Stacy Martin said, “Nicolas Saada sent me the script and we decided to meet. We talked about the story a lot, about Louise’s character, about the script being based on real events. And therefore, about the responsibility for the real Louise to tell her story. The more we talked, the more I wanted to be part of it. I was intrigued by the singularity of her. At a very young age, Louise found herself in a situation most of us would never have to face. The movie tells the story of a terrorist attack, but also the journey of an eighteen-year-old girl who finds herself living in a very harsh world.”
The 46th IFFI is showcasing the best of International cinema to national audience and best of Indian cinema to international delegates. This year, the festival is screening 187 international films including 26 Oscar entries in different sections.

Every year Salman Khan’s birthday is celebrated with much fanfare and grandeur by his fans and close friends, but this year a special surprise is coming his way. Though his birthday is a month away but his friend from UK is all set to surprise him.
A former world lightweight kickboxing champion Ali Jacko who is based in UK, will fly down to meet the actor on his birthday and surprise him with his music video. Ali has recorded and is set to release his first single ‘Give My Love A Brand New Name’. Kickboxing champion is anxious about Salman’s response to his single, a source says, “Ali met the actor years ago and they’ve been friends for ages. He wants Salman’s blessings for the video he has just uploaded on Youtube.”
Ali reveals that Salman has been one of his biggest supporters right from his initial days as a kickboxer. Salman had even flown to the UK to see him win his title. Ali adds, “Salman is one of the most amazing people i have ever known and is equally wonderful human being. Our friendship is beyond all these professional endeavours. So, yes i hope that he would support me, but i don’t want his support as a favour for a friend. Instead i want him to support me for my talent.” He further adds,”I am sure all my B-town friends will be surprised to see or rather, hear me sing. I am eager to see how they react to my song. I have never planned to be a singer. Forget a karaoke, i have never ever sung even in the bathroom. My Family cant believe that i have sung either. So i took up it as a challenge and immediately hired a vocal trainer. The result is this song. “

What’s it about?
A filmmaker with a mid-life crisis meets a mysterious young girl who reminds him of his first girlfriend at first, and subsequently, of every woman in his life.
Who is she? Is she real or imaginary? A stalker or a ghost? His past catching up or a character from the script he is writing?
A bold and original take on man-woman relationships, X: Past Is Present is a one-of-its-kind feature where 11 Indian filmmakers with strikingly different cinematic styles have come together to make different parts of the same film. One story told through the eyes of 11 unique storytellers.
Duration: 105 minutes / Language: English, Hindi, Tamil
Made on the typical lines of an international film festival genre, the film takes you on a psychotic trip into the mind of a film director. What all starts on that one night unravels the different layers of the mind-set of the central character.
While only niche audiences would relate to this subject, the effort is commendable. Getting 11 film directors to show different perspectives and blending it into an engrossing thriller is worth watching.
Similar directorial touches in most sequences makes it slightly monotonous. There are loads of over-the-shoulder scenes coupled with static one-frame camera shots with voice-overs. However each director has shown their distinctive style of shot composition and highlighting the actors’ histrionics.
Rajat Kapoor balances his multi-layered role as the film director who has skeletons in his cupboard. Almost all the female leads like Radhika Apte, Swara Bhaskar, Bidita Bag, Gabriella come out with shining performances.
The Huma Qureshi episode is quite a let-down in terms of content. Anshuman Jha lacks the appeal to hold the character of the younger version film director.
The film could get critical acclaim but the box-office numbers could be a disappointment. Only elite audiences would watch it. This film is a must watch for budding film makers.

Bollywood star, Karisma Kapoor teamed up with heartthrob and Student of the Year, Sidharth Malhotra for a truly noble cause. The duo joined hands with the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to spread awareness on Diabetic Retinopathy which is a condition arising due to diabetes and can cause permanent blindness to an individual if left untreated.
Speaking on the association, Bollywood beauty Karisma Kapoor said, “I am pleased to associate with All India Ophthalmological Society and the Indian Medical Association and would like to thank them for taking up the noble initiative that is being supported by Times Now to raise awareness on diabetic retinopathy. I personally know people who suffer from diabetes and it is increasingly becoming a cause for concern since diabetes can affect anyone irrespective of their age. I am grateful for the opportunity to help raise awareness on this common yet too often neglected and preventable issue. I would urge people who suffer from diabetes to visit these clinics for free testing and continue to do so year-on-year.”
Former model and current Bollywood heartthrob, Sidharth Malhotra said, “In our industry and with a lot of professionals, it is quite common to develop unhealthy eating habits, suffer stress and lead a sedentary lifestyle due to the hectic pace of life. All of these compound to causing diabetes and it can affect someone as young as a 20-year old. I am happy to be part of All India Ophthalmological Society and the Indian Medical Associations’ initiative to raise awareness on diabetes and diabetic retinopathy which is being supported by Times Now. I hope people from across the country will take advantage of the free eye testing clinics being organized by these medical bodies and take care of their vision.”
Apart from being a successful actor and one of the most popular faces in the television scene, Karan Mehra is multitalented and recently directed one more music video for wife Nisha Rawal, who initiated a fund raising activity for unprivileged kids on the occasion of Children’s Day.
This time around, Nisha has sung a cover of A. R. Rehman’s composition ‘Dil Hai Chota Sa’. The Karan Mehra directorial video also has Terence Lewis, making a guest appearance to support his friends in the noble cause. It features kids from Vatsalya Foundation (the NGO for which the fund raising activity was initiated), having a blast with Nisha. The video has been very well shot and seems like an honest attempt to capture the innocence of the kids along with Nisha’s playful presence.
When Karan came to Mumbai from Delhi about a decade ago, he started off with assisting many well-known directors like Rajkumar Hirani and Ram Gopal Verma. Direction has always been one of his interests and the actor is glad to have gotten back to it. Talking about being a director, Karan Mehra said, “I really enjoy the process of film making, be it as an actor or director. Being a director certainly adds a whole new dimension to your perception. I truly love the idea of having so much creative liberty to go about things when we are making these music videos. The response has been very encouraging, so far.”
Karan’s directorial skills are most definitely getting better with every video. Nisha’s singing career has also encouraged Karan to take up direction once again. Here’s looking forward for more of such good work from the power-packed couple.
Ranveer Singh is both elated & emotional about the completion of ‘Bajirao Mastani’. For the actor, it has been a yearlong commitment with many pitfalls & challenges but also a role of a lifetime. On his reasons for taking up the role of Maratha warrior king Bajirao with such seriousness, Ranveer said, “I knew from the start the kind of involvement expected of me. I knew that I too wanted to approach it wholeheartedly,”
Part of his commitment to his film was radical decision to stay locked up in a hotel room for weeks at a stretch. During this period of isolation, he focused entirely on his accent training & rehearsals to get in the role of a period hero. He elaborated, “It was important as I was playing a warrior from the 1700s, someone so distinctly different from my own being.”
In ‘Bajirao Mastani’, Ranveer sports heavy, authentic battle armor & traditional royal costumes of the Marathas. Focusing on getting the body language, mood & setting right required intensive training & complete dedication.
Clearly, the actor hasn’t fallen short on putting his whole & soul in this part & the superb feedback to his look in the film so far justifies the hard work.
After making the world premiere at DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival in 2014, the award-winning documentary MISS TIBET: BEAUTY IN EXILE will have its India premiere at All Lights India International Film Festival held in Kochi from 16-19 November 2015
The coming of age documentary follows the young Ms. Khecheo’s journey to Dharamshala as she competes in an unusual–and controversial–beauty pageant for Tibetan exiles. It is a journey of self-discovery as well as a return to her roots. Growing up in America, born in India, exiled from her parent’s homeland, she struggles with her cultural identity in ways that will resonate with Indian audiences.
Norah Shapiro, director of the film, who is thrilled to be coming to India says, “Bringing the film to the Indian audience is particularly gratifying and exciting because the bulk of the film takes place in India, which has graciously hosted the exiled Tibetan community since 1959. In addition, the film’s subject, Ms. Tenzin Khecheo, was born in India and took her first trip back to her birthplace during the course of the film.”
She adds, “The cultural influence of India on the evolving Tibetan exile culture is evident throughout the film. We hope that the film will provide a forum for speaking out about the Tibetan situation, as well as give audiences the chance to experience Tibetan culture.”
Since its world premiere one year ago at the prestigious DOC NYC Film Festival in New York, Miss Tibet: Beauty in Exile produced by Flying Pieces Productions has been delighting audiences at film festivals across the United States. Highlights include “Best of the Fest” awards at the Minneapolis/ St. Paul International Film Festival, the Asian American International Film Festival and the 2015 Global Peace Festival. The film has received glowing reviews in Hollywood Reporter, Bust Magazine, Indiewire, Independent Magazine and many more.
High in the Indian Himalayas, in the epicenter of the exiled Tibetan world, a maverick Tibetan impresario stages an unexpected spectacle: a western-style beauty pageant. Pageant founder Lobsang Wangyal seeks to fill a void within the Tibetan exile community by bringing a bit of glamour into his corner of the world. Complete with catwalks and evening gowns, he sees his pageant as an opportunity for exiled Tibetan women to both immerse themselves in Tibetan culture and to add their voices to global fight for a free Tibet by using the pageant as a unlikely political platform.
When Tibetan-American teenager Tenzin Khecheo travels to Dharamsala to participate in this ‘pageant with a difference,’ she finds herself not just competing for a crown, but confronting the intersection between her cultural identity and life in the western world

Everything that is so essentially ‘Bollywood’…the varied components that come together, and work in harmony to make a film are depicted in Fawzan’s photographs. He shoots a different view of Bollywood by capturing behind the scenes action on the sets: no frontal portraits, no posing for his camera. His photographs portray the real picture, the real people without the glamour, artifacts and ‘larger than life’ idea usually associated with Bollywood Silverscreen led him to `Beyond Silverscreen’. A look at how we Indian’s have fascination with our Filmy folks. Once he started looking around, he could see them all around, Apart from the bill boards he could find them in restaurants, on Kites, in gyms, in rickshaws. Some were using them as decoration while some to lure their fans or crazy customers, while others were showing their affection to their idols. It was funny but real. To him this was Silverscreen away from the sets.

Hindi Cinema is infamous for its semi-fictionalized depiction of events that happen in our daily lives. We feel our bellies going warm and fuzzy after listening to a romantic song. We also feel regret & mistrust after listening to a track which reminds us of a love story gone downhill. ‘Babuji Dheere Chalna’ from the ‘Aar Paar’ (1950) is one of those songs.
Taking into perspective that there is more to backstabbing (personal, corporate, political, etc.) in this day and age than it was in the era gone by, Saregama has done a true to the lyrics video reinterpretation of a Guru Dutt classic. The video stands testament to the new age approach of confrontation of truth, which is far less sugar coated than it was when the song first came out.
Originally composed by the legendary O.P. Nayyar and sung by Geeta Dutt, this jazz infused groove tune is rearranged by Sumit Ramachandra and sung by Anjum Katyal.
Love, lust & betrayal…. All in a day’s work.

~ The Kannada language film, which made its Asian premiere at MAMI, was the only Indian feature to be selected in the International Category ~
Raam Reddy’s directorial debut, Thithi wins the Jury Grand Prize at Mumbai Film Festival, 2015. The Kannada-language film, which made its Asian Premiere at Mumbai Film Festival, 2015, was the only Indian feature to be selected in the International Competition.
The film had its international première at Locarno International Film Festival in August this year and won two top awards – Pardo d’oro Cineasti Del Presente Premio Nescens” (Golden Leopard, Filmmakers of the Present Competition) and “Swatch First Feature Award” for the best debut feature in the festival.
Excited about the winning one of the top awards at this year’s MAMI, Raam says, “Thithi’s journey so far has been nothing short of magical, and premiere at MAMI has continued this dream-come-true. It was already such an immense honour to be included in the wonderfully curated selection of the International Competition including films like Land and Shade that won the Camera d’Or at Cannes and Ixcanul Volcano than won in Berlin. It was truly a selection of some of the strongest films from around the world this year, so winning an award in this category is really overwhelming. In addition to the award, it was also so encouraging to see how Thithi seemed to be universally enjoyed as theatrical experience by the audiences in MAMI, with so much more laughter in the theatre that my team and I ever expected.”
All the screenings of Thithi were sold out, with audiences lining up three hours before the start of the film in the final screening. Thithi’s reputation in the world cinema circles has steadily grown ever since winning the Work-in-Progress Fiction Lab in NFDC Film Bazaar 2014. After the Locarno wins, the 26-year-old director was very excited to be felicitated by Karnataka’s Honorable Chief Minister Sri Siddaramaiah.
In addition to its critical accolades, Thithi has backing of a renowned international producer from the USA, Sunmin Park of Maxmedia, Los Angeles. She, along with Tom Cruise, produced The Others starring Nicole Kidman directed by Alejandro Amenabar, A Night in Old Mexico starring Robert Duvall, and many other films with globally acclaimed directors from around the world.
Brief Film Synopsis
After the death of Century Gowda, a highly cranky 101 year old man, the film follows the humorous exploits of his elderly bearded son, Gadappa, his materialistic middle-aged grandson, Thamanna, and his confident pubescent great grandson, Abhi, up until Century Gowda’s “thithi”, the final funeral celebration 11 days after a death.
Shot in the Mandya district of Karnataka, Thithi is a dramatic comedy co-written by Eregowda, who spent most of his childhood in the village that the film was shot. Furthermore, Thithi entirely comprises a cast of non-professional actors who are mostly farmers from the area, lending a deep authenticity and unique breed of insider humour to the film. In addition, the young crew comprises collaborators from Holland, USA, as well as FTII graduates and many locals from the village.
About the Director:
Raam Reddy, 26, is a graduate of Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and Prague Film School. Previously, he has directed a critically-acclaimed short film called Ika (Feather), and published a magic-realism novel titled It’s Raining in Maya.
Huma Qureshi and Radhika Apte are both powerhouse performers known for their sexually charged roles and strong performances. While Huma’s role as a prostitute in Badlapur won her accolades, Radhika wowed all as the sexy wife in Ahalya. Now the two have teamed up for the first time in X: Past or Present, and there’s much excitement among movie-goers to watch who will outshine the other in this passion play of man woman relationships. Moreso being helmed by 11 directors, there’s buzz of who will prove to be hotter of the two in X! But that’s not all, the two Bolly gals also have some serious competition from Swara Bhaskar who is equally known for her fiery portrayals.

What’s it about?
Ranbanka is a story of a common man Rahul played by Manish Paul whose work demands his family to move to Mathura. His family includes himself, wife played by Pooja Thakur and son. This decision changes their life completely. A local gangster and younger brother of a MLA, Raghav Singh played by well-known Ravi Kishan falls in love with the protagonist’s wife and wishes to marry her.
How a common man is forced to adopt violence in order to protect his family when the system is not ready to support him in anyway.
Ravi Kishen does a fantastic job and manages to hold the film on his shoulders. He is ruthless, violent and is apt for the role. However, he could have added some variances to his usual acting skills to shine out in this author-backed role.
Manish Paul – He doesn’t deserve any mention about his work coz he has been unprofessional in his commitments. He hasn’t promoted the film which could have gained some mileage.
Pooja Thakur – Scene stealer for sure. Raw talent with ethnic beauty, Pooja has done fantastic in the emotional scenes.
Avinash Dwivedi as Kantu definitely stands out as the right hand of Raghav Singh. He has the animalistic appeal which will go a long way.
Shakir Ali could have taken the film at a higher level. Somehow the screenplay is jerky in the initial stages of the film.
First time director Aryeman manages to hold the audience attention throughout the film. Hats off to him for getting some brilliant performances from Pooja Thakur and Ravi Kishen. He has made an optimum use of the brilliant locations. The directorial touches are visible and overall the film has all the masala of a commercial film.
With 6 films releasing this week, Ranbanka would get its share of audience only on word-of-mouth. It will do good business in the rural centers which have a Ravi Kishen fan following.

Zindagi was launched with a promise to bring the best content to our television screens from across continents. After winning the hearts of Indian audiences with stories from Pakistan and Turkey, the channel also introduced its first original content show – Shukriya. It was a first of its kind non-fiction show that captures the true essence of the channel’s brand philosophy of ‘Jodey Dilon Ko’. Reinforcing its commitment to its viewers in its second year of programming, Zindagi embarks on a new journey with refreshing content for the modern Indian viewer. The channel will soon launch storylines produced in India that break the shackles of age-old stereotypical content that we see on Indian TV. Its original fiction programming line-up includes two shows – Bhaage Re Mann and Aadhe Adoore. The shows are a salute to those who celebrate their life, are in touch with their deeper self, know who they are and are unapologetic about it.
Bhaage Re Mann is the story about a 39 year old, unmarried, new age woman who has always kept herself from getting tied down by societal norms. While Aadhe Adhoore, is a story of young woman’s journey to be the perfect wife, bahu and bhabhi and her ability to strike a perfect balance between the emotions she feels and the circumstance she finds herself trapped in. These stories are the modern Indian woman’s take on the problems and issues of life with an underlying mantra – “Follow your heart”.
“Since our launch we have always pushed the envelope on content. We have consistently showcased strong narratives that leave our audiences engaged and engrossed, be it the superlative content from across the border or introducing a first-of-its-kind reality show, Shukriya to the best story from Turkey. The distinctive and strong narrative associated with Zindagi has taken a step ahead with the new shows produced in India. Bhaage Re Mann & Aadhe Adhoore, the two shows that are a part of Zindagi’s original fiction programming line-up, captures the quintessential modern Indian woman who lives life on her own terms. We celebrate today’s evolved independent woman and we are optimistic that these shows will provide refreshing entertainment for television audiences,” said Ms. Priyanka Datta, Cluster Head – Zindagi & FTA Hindi GEC.

Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut, Kiran Rao, Anupama Chopra and American filmmaker Ava DuVernay took part in a conversation on Women in Film that was powered by Lifebuoy and their initiative ‘Help a Child Reach 5’ that examined the position of women in film today.

Talking about the portrayal of women in films, actor Shabana Azmi said, “It has been left to parallel cinema to portray women with any kind of complexity”.
Ava DuVernay spoke about the issues women face in Hollywood and said, “There is a definite kind of film a woman is allowed to make”. She then added, “because of economics women are not given the budget or trust to make films apart from romantic comedy.”

The panel was preceded by a brunch that celebrated women in film. Attended by women at the top of their game in media and film, the occasion was made even more special by Sula Vineyards which did a tasting of their new sparkling wine- Brut Tropicale.

Anushka Sharma loves animals. She spends quality time with her pet dog, Dude, whenever she can. She has consistently supported worthwhile causes that protect rights of these mute creatures, including a recent initiative to prevent culling of stray dogs in Kerala. In sync with this cause, as Diwali festivities set in with bright lights & fire crackers, Anushka is encouraging everyone to celebrate the festival of lights on a PAWsitive note.
Through an innovative social media campaign, she will generate awareness & sensitize people towards reduction of noise and fire crackers for the sake of animals.
Around Diwali, fire crackers generate massive noise pollution. It’s a proven fact that in Indian cities, noise pollution levels go up by a stupendous 80 to 100 per cent around Diwali. Bursting crackers is an accepted pastime everywhere. But the sound created by these crackers scares animals & disturbs their everyday life patterns.
Ahead of Diwali, Anushka will launch an extensive social media campaign through facebook & twitter to encourage people to reduce use of crackers, especially in residential areas. Less crackers also mean reduced levels of noise pollution.
In her words, “Animals are our best friends. They make me laugh & I share a personal bond with them. Their welfare is one cause that’s close to my heart & I will keep taking up initiatives that makes us care for them too. When somene bursts fire crackers during Diwali, they don’t think of how it affects animals or birds. With ‘Pawsitive’ I hope I can inspire some of us to care about them, and avoid making a lot of noise. Diwali is a festival of lights & happiness, and can also be celebrated with your family in a safe & healthy manner.”
The ‘Paw’sitive’ initiative is an innovative social media campaign and is bound to generate interest amongst the youth & children. Anushka’s active support for it helps amplifying it’s message. And her love for animals goes on to benefit these meek creatures in the long run.

Bhumi Pednekar floored the audience with her debut as Sandhya in Dum Laga Ke Haisha (DLKH) and is all set to recreate the magic in her next film with Ayushmann Khurrana. Bhumi recently signed her second film where interestingly, she has been paired with her former co-star once again.
Post Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi’s weight loss has been creating a lot of buzz and the actress seems to have achieved the feat successfully. Bhumi’s weight loss mission originated from her quest to play diverse roles rather than be stereotyped as a particular kind of character. Adding to this she said, “I’m trying to recreate Bhumi all over again. There’s such a drastic visual difference between how I was then and now. I feel like this will be a relaunch for me. Before DLKH, I was a regular, medium-sized girl. For a few months, I was overweight, and for the other months, I wasn’t. For Sandhya, I did gain a good amount of weight, but now, I am probably the thinnest I’ve ever been. It’s still a work in progress.”
After attaining the perfect shape and a healthy body the talented actress is now focusing on her upcoming project. She says, “I read the script a few weeks ago, and I was completely blown away by it. I’m really happy to work with Ayushmann again. He was my first hero. He’s a great friend, a brilliant actor, and we already share a comfort level with each other. But we will have to outdo what we did in DLKH. So, that’s a bigger challenge for us.”
The ‘force 2’ shooting experience for upcoming star Tahir Raj Bhasin has been exhilarating in more ways than one. Tahir is inspired to remain disciplined & focus on his fitness & action skills from the talented international stunts crew of this action film.
While shooting in Budapest, Tahir witnessed the focus, discipline & toughness of action & stunt director Franz & his crew. Ace technicians who have worked on films like ‘District 9’, ‘Mad Max’, a few Bond films & the on sea series ‘Black Sails’, these guys would wake up at 5AM and work out. Practicing parkour & yoga was second nature to them, as was handling pain. In fact, one technician named Daryl in this crew specialized in preparing actors to handle pain, as jumping out of 2nd floor windows was routine to him!
‘Working on Force 2’s first schedule with a South African stunt team taught me to push the physical boundaries of the human mind and body. It was exhilarating watching them work their magic.’said Tahir Raj Bhasin
For Tahir, seeing their discipline & focus was quite an experience. The actor has begun to incorporate some of that discipline & hard work onto his personal work out routines & hopes to maintain the action lead from Force 2 in future.
Looks like Tahir’s grey turn in this action thriller will be worth the wait!
Playing a character in a period drama requires an actor to live and breathe in a different era altogether. It’s because of this that Ranveer Singh is trying unusual ways to ensure that he delivers better than his best as Peshwa Bajirao. One such method is to call him ‘Rao’ instead of Ranveer Singh on set.
In playing Peshwa Bajirao, Ranveer Singh has taken on a once in a lifetime role; that of a fearsome Maratha warrior and a just king who is still remembered in folktales. Lots have been said about his physical & mental preparation for this part.
In order to ensure that he stays focused while shooting, Ranveer has surprised his assistant directors with an odd request. He has asked everyone to call him ‘Rao’ and address him with the name of his character. While his request has let to some good-natured leg pulling on set, Ranveer insists that this be the practice. Says a source, “This helps him stay in character & helps him not be reminded that he is Ranveer Singh. So when he is on set he is fully in character.”
Even while speaking on walkie-talkies, as assistants tend to do while a shoot is on, they call him Rao. So far, this mental shift into this historical character has worked for him, even though it’s not commonly done.
Clearly, Ranveer is pushing himself beyond the call of duty to bring alive the magic & might of ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
“I don’t love process, I love chaos”— thus began a full-house session on Pandeymonium on the last day of Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest. A river of repartees surfaced as Anuja Chauhan, author, quizzed Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman & National Creative Director Ogilvy & Mather India , on his recently released book, Pandeymonium, making advertisements and being a veteran ad guru—to which he jovially replied ‘I am ad shuru’.
Pandey shared humble instances from his life, both personal and professional, that made him who he is! Of relationship with clients, the stalwart said, “Only good work helps in maintaining relationships. Clients will allow to fail, but just once. That is the only magic of relationship.”
Chauhan, herself an advertiser, enquired Pandey about the many worthy narratives from his life—maintaining the trust of clients and of open-hearted chats with his barber that gives him the real picture of life at large; which allows him to understand life from a very different and honest perspective.
As questions poured in, Pandey shot a volley of anecdotes that got the crowd laughing and cheering him on for his deep yet frank remarks on advertisement. “It is the question of who can hold interest for a longer time. Everything depends on the quality of an idea.”
After singer Arvind Vegda, the multi-talented actor and a doting father Vikas Bhalla bids adieu to the Bigg Boss house this week. Vikas entered the house with partner Yuvika Chaudhary and they soon became each other’s support system. He even sacrificed his luggage for Yuvika and was seen sporting. In the captaincy task, the duo was unanimously voted to be the first captains of the house beating competitor jodi Kishwer and Aman. Receiving brickbats from Bigg Boss for their captaincy, Vikas-Yuvika were pegged at being laisez faire captains who did not actively participate in fulfilling their responsibility.
Soon after, Vikas’ birthday revealed his emotional side when he received a letter from his wife giving him her best wishes and love. He was also blamed for excluding women in the house in major decisions during the Lagaan task. Getting into a tiff with Prince a few days before elimination, Vikas had gradually begun revealing his egotistical side.
Speaking about his journey in the Bigg Boss house, Vikas Bhalla said, “Bigg Boss is a show where you cannot fake emotions. You almost get transported into a parallel world. It has been an experience which will always be engrained in my memory. I made quite a few genuine friends inside the house like Yuvika, Suyyash, Prince and Arvind and would like to keep in touch with them even in the real world.”
