Dressed in a dapper suit, Actor Jackky Bhagnani walked the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York for the star studded premiere of the Malala Yousafzai documentary, ‘He named me Malala.’ Jackky who met Malala and her family in Birmingham, U.K, earlier this month was a special guest of the Yousafzais at the NYC premiere.
“Attending this premiere was very important for me. Malala and the causes she espouses are very close to my heart. I believe it is important for everyone in India to watch this film. There is a lot of work to be done for education of the girl child in India and this film will inspire parents to ensure their daughters are educated,” said Jackky Bhagnani after the premiere.
Also present at the Ziegfeld Theatre were the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Alicia Keys, Hope Solo, Zosia Mamet, and Ivanka Trump, daughter of U.S Presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson and musician Raury also made their way to the red carpet joining actress Elizabeth Shue and actor Andrew Shue, and United Arab Emirates’ Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba.
“He Named Me Malala” has been directed by acclaimed filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman). The film is an intimate portrait of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan’s Swat Valley in 2012. The then 15-year-old was singled out, along with her father Ziauddin Yousafzai, for advocating girls’ education. The attack on Malala sparked an outcry from supporters across the globe.
The documentary releases in theatres across the United States on October 2nd.

But that one compliment which has made a great impact on Zeishan’s career was from his Gangs of Wassepur director Anurag Kashyap.
The duos who have shared their journey together since the inception of Gangs of Wassepur series, from being a writer-director pair to now a director-editor one, have strongly influenced each other.
In a recent interview with the media, the brilliant director Anurag Kashyap stated, “I saw a reflection of myself in Zeishan, the zeal and the passion I had in my early days is now what I see in him. The VFX for upcoming fantasy adventure film Puli has been done by Mr. Kamalakannan who has previously worked on VFX for S. S. Rajamouli’s Magadheera and Makkhi.
While in SS Rajamouli’s Makkhi there were 1200 Vfx shots, 1600 in Magadheera and 2000 in his historical war film Baahubali, Puli has a whooping 2400 VFX shots.
Kamalakannan says, “Initially we were planning to have 2600 Vfx scenes in Puli, but later we reduced it to 2400 due to some constraints. But even after reducing the shots are more than Baahubali.”
The Vfx for Puli has been done in 8 different studios across the world in counties such as India, St. Petersburgh in Russia, Ukraine and Armenia.
Some interesting characters completely created in VFX and can be seen in the trailer are the One Eyed Monster, Giant Tortoise, Black Panther and many more which will be revealed in the movie.
Actor Gautam Rode who has been doing shows back to back on television is once again set to don a new hat. Our source informs us, “Gautam had been one of the first faces to be approached for the show. However he was already shooting for Mahakumbh at that time and hence had no dates available for the show. Rumors had been floating of other actors including Aditya Redij playing the title role but since Karn was pushed off, the makers once again approached Gautam and the latest development is that the actor has given a nod to the project.” Gautam’s last show on television, Mahakumbh, ended only two months ago and Gautam happens to be only actor on television who has done three male dominated shows back to back with hardly a two month gap between each. When we contacted Gautam he confirmed and said, “I always believe in playing different characters and this time around as well Karn is completely different from the characters I have portrayed on screen earlier. Plus, its a finite series which is a concept I really like as Mahakumbh too had been a finite show. I am looking forward to being seen in a different avatar.” Karn is said to be a 150 episode finite series and Gautam will begin shooting for the show from next week.
The National Award winning producer for acclaimed films Fandry, Siddhant Vivek Kajaria, has turned director with a short film, Durga, which is making its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival to be held in Korea from October 1 to 10.
The film will be screened in the ‘Short Film Showcase’ of the ‘Wide Angle section on 3rd, 6th and 9th October. Martin Scorsese’s short film, The Audition starring Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt is also screened in the same section.
The story of Durga revolves around a poor Village Artist (Bhola), who makes Idols of Goddess Durga, his love for his grand daughter and ultimately the faith of a worshipper of Goddess Durga with the final task to do justice to his very existence and purpose in life.
The film which is produced by Vivek Kajaria’s Holy Basil Productions, stars Veena Jamkar, Saachi and Kalyan Chatterjee.
The producer turned director Vivek Kajaria says, “I have personally witnessed the Durga Puja environment in Kolkata, and lived with it for years. Having lived with these people, I personally have lived with this story for years now. This film has given an opportunity to learn more about film making along with gaining technical expertise. I know many directors capable than myself but while making this movie, I was very clear in my head about what I wanted to show therefore I took up the challenge of directing on my own.”
Adding further he said, “I had come to this industry with a passion to make good content oriented and meaningful cinema. Finally after a lot of production work, I got this opportunity to direct something I wanted to share with the world.”

Karan Mehra won the Favourite Pati award at Star Parivaar this year for his role as Naitik in his very popular television serial. A new trailer of Titli, a collaboration of Yash Raj Films and Dibakar Banerjee Productions, will be launched on September 29 at YRF Studios.
Citing the reason behind releasing a new trailer of Titli for India, Dibakar reveals, “I feel we went wrong in the earlier trailer.”

Mamta works as the Director – Legal with the BJN Group for the last 10 yrs and has been closely involved in the expansion of the group hotel chains all over the country. Having a total corporate experience of over 20 yrs and having worked with several law firms prior to this and being a practicing advocate, Mamta completed her graduation from the University of Mumbai with dual degrees in B.A, LLB. Mamta hails from Uttarakhand and Rishikesh is her hometown.

Hero has released and the movie is carrying some great hype and there are a number of reasons responsible for it. There’s Salman Khan’s involvement, Nikhil Advani as the director and the music has done its trick. The music has been so liked by the people because of the videos and the dance moves of the leads, Suraj and Athiya have been greatly appreciated. Well, choreographer Feroz A Khan is the man responsible for the amazing dance moves of the newcomers.
Apparently, Remo D’souza was supposed to be the trainer for Suraj and Athiya but due to his busy schedule he couldn’t make it and that’s when he referred Feroz to director Nikhil Advani. Feroz trained the star kids for more than a couple of months in various dance moves including Salsa, Contemporary, Hip Hop and more.
When asked about the experience of working with Suraj and Athiya, Feroz says, “It was great working with Suraj and Athiya. I was sometimes strict with them during the training but they always took in good stride. In fact, they were always eager to learn more.”
Nikhil Advani was so impressed by the training of Feroz that he wanted him to choreograph 3 songs in Hero. There’s “Khoya Khoya Chaand”, which has some contemporary dance steps and “Yaadan Teriyaan” features some cool dance moves. Feroz A Khan has also choreographed another song “Jab We Met” for which the video hasn’t been revealed yet.
Well, you should watch the cool dance moves of Suraj and Athiya on the bigger screen and you don’t have to wait anymore, as Hero releases today.

Rizwan is very close to his Father. Infact, during his college days, he had to stay away from the family in a hostel to concentrate on his education and it often made him homesick. He is the one actor on set who can instantly turn around the mood or make an already fun mood even funnier! In this one instance where Nikita Dutta, now playing Naina too, had to furiously cry in a scene but the funny man that Kunal is, instantly jumped in and fake slipped in front of her in such a way that made her laugh frantically. In such a scene, others would definitely be disciplined for an act like this, but Kunal easily gets away with it as his intentions are good.
On getting the title of Mr. Entertainer on set, Karan said, “Being able to make somebody laugh is a gift not everyone has and I’m grateful to have been given this gift. It’s always enjoyable to have such humorous moments on set, it just lightens up the mood and makes it feel more like a celebration than work”. “It is also a bonus when you can easily get away with pranks”, laughs the fun-loving actor.
“Usually, when there is a serious scene being filmed, the entire cast gets into that mood. Having someone who can change that instantly once in a while is always refreshing”, commented a source on set.

Now a day’s the dynamic dancing couple Sandip Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa are mesmerizing the audience with their Jalwa on the ramp. They won the hearts of the audience through their dance and grace on the ramp, but the surprising part was that they were solo on the ramp and in different cities. Designer Rohit Verma presented his Mughal Era collection at India’s Luxury style week 2015-Men’s Edition, the show opened with the dramatic entry of ace Bollywood choreographer Sandip Soparrkar gracefully spinning on the runway in an 18 kilograms flared white Kurta and red embroidered Shervani with a huge embellished Rajasthani turban and jewellery worth 10 lakhs on him. His drama reached the peek when he twirled and twirled and sat on the head ramp posing like a Royal Mughal King taking people back to the golden era of Indian Maharajas!
Designer Rohit Verma said, “Sandip was my ultimate choice to open the Mughal Era Collection because no man in the country can do what he does. He is a dancer par excellence who has the personality, body and style like a supermodel and what he did on the ramp was something totally overwhelming. When the crowd cheered and clapped I knew I had made the right choice.”
The opening of Lakme Fashion week 2015 saw the super model and ace dancer Jesse Randhawa walk the ramp for Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s Retro theme collection. She was in full swing, glittering in a gold and silver ruffled and petalled organza gown and again made a power packed entry in a figure hugging white jumpsuit with floral multicoloured sequence embroidery. She did her drama by dancing to hit retro number and posed like the stars of the Retro Era.
Designer Sandeep Khosla especially posted a picture on his facebook page of Jesse in a drama filled pose saying “No one like you Jesse”. Fashion show director Luban Adam who choreographed the show said “Jesse is the bench mark for all the models to learn the drama and sense of rhythm on the ramp. She stole the spotlight at the show with her gig.”
The question in our mind is do both Sandip and Jesse plan the drama at home before they step on the ramp? Or is it the cloths that inspire them both? Or like the famous saying goes “dance inspires people to get more creative.” As far as we are enjoying what they bringing on the Indian Fashion Scene, we do not need the answers really.
